Gregg is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Logistics & Distribution
(L&D) department at Marketforce. L&D monitors and controls the transportation of our
magazines, partworks and collectable product from their final manufacturing stage (printer or outworker)
through to delivery into wholesalers in the UK and our overseas agents. Gregg's job is to ensure that
our product gets to market in the most timely, cost-efficient and effective way.
L&D's Planning and Tracking sections are responsible for the creation and logistics implementation
of despatch plans for each issue of each title using our bespoke Logistics system - PALM. This activity
involves creating approximately 15,000 title /issue specific plans each year, detailing; any required
regionalisation, the make-up of the product (including gifts, the paper weight and pagination),
and orders for each wholesaler or overseas agent, along with agreed deadlines. These details provide the
information required to complete the despatch documentation and EDI files which are subsequently
communicated to printers, finishers and hauliers.
For copies going overseas, we have a dedicated International Logistics team. They manage our freight
forwarders to ensure our product moves in the most cost-effective and efficient manner from the UK
to overseas markets by road, sea or air.
Our Information and Development section are responsible for providing all the necessary management
information and systems, which is critical in helping to continually optimise our logistics efficiency
and effectiveness,
