With theft and robbery against retailers reaching record levels, up 24% in the last year alone, shop owners and their staff are said to be facing over “850 incidents of abuse and violence each day”.
The Fed – Federation of Independent Retailers are requesting government support to help curb these incidents through the provision of grants for small businesses, designed to enhance their security systems.
Representing the interests of almost 10k independent retailers including a vast number of convenience stores, post offices and newsagencies, this organisation supports the magazine industries largest retail group.
They are calling on the industry to sign their petition and increase visibility around the safety issues affecting their member businesses.
